The five ogre myrm was overpowered, and was rightly nerfed. It wasn't overpowered because of NOS either; if anything the only reason it wasn't known for being an unstoppable death machine is because nearly everyone fit NOS instead of realizing the DPS potential that the ship had with blasters. My current myrm fit does about 900 dps overloaded. The old myrm would have been capable of 1100+ if it could have been overheated.

-overheating drones
The current harbinger can break 1000 with a 5 mil implant and overheating
Maybe no overheating at that time...smart little one?
Hey, try loading up eft and looking at the damage difference between 2 ogres 2 hammerheads 1 hobgoblin and 5 ogres and you will see that it is not quite a gap of 200. Since blaster damage did not change you must assume that somehow you can now overheat drones. Nice try on the post though.
Current myrm is capable of ~960 dps with a t2 fit. Old myrm would have been capable of ~1100 if they hadnt added bandwidth with the same patch that introduced overheating. Also its worth noting that the current myrm can hit that dps while also having propulsion, a decent shield buffer, and tackle.

I normally run three mag stabs but sometimes the extra 35 dps comes in handy. Also, it still hits ~900 dps with just the cheap ZGM1000 implant, but wont hit 960 without a CX-2 and the forth magstab.

Originally by: abrasive soap So, basically, the opinion of most people in this thread is that the myrmidon which has less range than a hurricane or harbinger, is currently fine relying on blasters which have worse tracking than autocannons and worse range than autocannons and lasers and a mix of drones which only works on paper (ogres will have large amounts of trouble hitting anything sub battleship), while being the second slowest battle cruiser should achieve a damage output which is on par with the harbinger and hurricane.
Worst trolls ever.
The drone DPS works out to 60km, so I would hardly call the ship close-range; feel free to load a few sentry drones in the extra dronebay space if you want. The drone DPS also works when the myrm is jammed or tracking disrupted. The ship has no turret bonuses, so go ahead and put some lasers or autocannons on it if you think they are more powerful. I fit blasters just because they do more DPS in close. And ogres have little trouble hitting cruisers since the sig res on them is 125m; in fact ships smaller than battlecruisers tend to drag the ogres behind them resulting in even better tracking (as long as the ogres/berserkers can keep up).

Edited by: Gavin Darklighter on 27/09/2009 22:12:41 The weapon resolution for heavy drones is 125m. The drones receive no to-hit penalty against anything cruiser-size or larger. If they weren't able to hit cruisers, then they wouldn't be able to hit battleships either. And 60km is the drone control range, not the range of the drones (unless you use long range sentries). Yes people can shoot your drones, but they can also jam you or tracking disrupt your turrets; everything has a counter, and nothing should be ballanced on a 1v1 basis.
